Update: Check our new blog post, Cambodia on the rocks, a night photography oasis.
Cambodia is not known for it’s night skies, however, it is still a relatively dark place, and if conditions are correct, the views can be stunning. Waking up in a hammock in remote Cambodia & witnessing the beautiful stars is an unforgettable experience.
We now have a few locations where it is possible to stay over night, Including a remote Angkorian temple. The blog post from Perng Tanorn is a magical place to escape too, offering unique natural sandstone formations. Trips are quite involved, and are in remote locations. We will teach you the basics of night photography, maybe leading into time lapse. These are bespoke workshops to suit the individual. They are over night, where accommodation can be basic to almost non existent. The best time for clear skies is from the end of rain season until February.
Storm photography is a different matter. They can be most spectacular September to November and are ideal for time-lapse, as long as they are at distance.
Photographing within the Angkor Park at night is off limits unless special permit is obtained, we may be able to assist!

Time-lapse goes hand in hand with night photography – watching the moving stars & changing shadows from the moon. Darren has a keen interest in this and maybe can do something during any of our other tours. Check his work on youtube.
